Scout’s current search inputs (a JD file or LinkedIn URL) couldn’t be simpler, but we wanted to add a 3rd option for anyone who didn’t have a JD in hand yet. You may have a general idea of your ideal candidate, and using the Quick Search Bar will be a good option to test the waters.
Finding the new Quick Search Bar is easy. As you click on “New Search”, the bar will show up right at the top. It also works just like a new query on ChatGPT or Google.
The Quick Search Bar in Action
The Quick Search Bar currently works best with details such as job title, skill set, general keywords, experience and visa requirements. As we further develop this feature, Scout’s engine will be able to process more filters such as salary range and tier-1 universities.
New Search Quality Analyser
Found at the top left of any search results page, the new analyser is the best way to quickly assess the quality of your search. There are 3 distinct levels — Niche, Balanced and Generic.
“Niche” means that you’ve got high requirements with lots of specific filters turned on. This can give very qualified hits, but within a very small talent pool. “Generic” sits on the other end of the spectrum, where your requirements are so low that thousands of candidates qualify.
I’d recommend to start a new search with the Quick Search Bar, and subsequently use the analyser to gauge the quality of the results. Tweak as necessary. Log in and try it out for yourself.
